Job Description

Combo Pipe Welder needed for process work in Savannah. Perform combination welding using GTAW root with SMAW or FCAW fill and cap. Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome alloy piping systems. Produce radiograph quality welds consistently in all positions. Maintain proper purge on stainless and alloy root passes. Control heat input to prevent distortion and maintain metallurgical properties. Read and follow welding procedure specifications precisely. Prepare joints with proper bevel, land, and root opening dimensions. Maintain clean work area and protect adjacent equipment from spatter. Complete welds efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Document weld identification and maintain continuity records. Must have combo welding experience and pass site qualification test. Schedule is 7 days per week with 12 hour shifts during peak periods. Premium welder rates with full per diem.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years combination pipe welding experience required. Must pass 6G combo weld test with GTAW root and SMAW or FCAW fill and cap. Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome alloy pipe. Ability to produce radiograph quality welds consistently in all positions. Knowledge of purge requirements for stainless and alloy welding. Experience with turnaround and shutdown welding preferred. Must pass drug screen and background check. OSHA 30 certification required. Must be available for extended schedules during peak periods. Own welding tools required.
